Chakra Sutra – Awakening the Divine Within
Chakra Sutra is Nrithyalaya Dance Academy’s milestone production for our 10th Anniversary Celebration. This original dance drama is inspired by the ancient wisdom of the seven chakras and brought to life through the sacred vocabulary of Bharatanatyam.
Through rhythm, expression, and storytelling, Chakra Sutra becomes a way to explain subtle spiritual truths in a form that children and audiences can connect with. It is a journey of awakening — from the grounding energy of Muladhara to the infinite bliss of Sahasrara.
Each chakra becomes a stage of transformation:
Muladhara (Root) – the foundation, where stability, fear, and faith are tested.
Swadhisthana (Sacral) – the flow of creativity, relationships, and emotional truth.
Manipura (Solar Plexus) – the fire of willpower, courage, and inner strength.
Anahata (Heart) – the center of love, devotion, and compassion.
Vishuddhi (Throat) – the voice of truth, expression, and resonance.
Ajna (Third Eye) – the seat of intuition, clarity, and inner vision.
Sahasrara (Crown) – the ultimate union, beyond body and mind, where the seeker dissolves into the Divine.
Characters such as Antara, Mantara, and Miss K embody the seeker’s questions, conflicts, and discoveries. The guiding deities reveal the essence of each chakra, showing that the path to the Divine is not somewhere far away, but right here — experienced through the body, mind, and breath.
With its blend of sacred movement, music, and narrative, Chakra Sutra is not just a performance. It is a gentle doorway into reflection, a journey of alignment, and an invitation to experience the divine within.
Prelude
Antara plays by the rules. Mantara wants to break free.
One follows structure; the other challenges it.
What begins as a simple board game soon turns into a feisty conversation. Miss K gently steers that conversation into a deeper inward journey through the body, the mind, and the subtle energy centers called Chakras.
How did they get there? Was Miss K successful in guiding them?
Chakra Sutra is their unfolding — guided by ancient wisdom, sacred movement, and living mantras.
Come see what lies beyond the next roll of the dice!
A dance that is both playful and piercing.
A search not for perfection, but for alignment.
Because the Divine is not waiting at the top somewhere —
It is in the breath between the steps
