Prelude
In Hindu Mythology, Goddess Lakshmi symbolizes wealth. Ashta means 8 and Ashta – Lakshmi means eight forms of Lakshmi; each symbolizing different forms of wealth. Wealth, in this context, does not just refer to money. The eight forms of wealth that is signified by Ashtalakshmi are Spiritual wealth, wealth of food, wealth of courage, wealth of kindness, wealth of progeny, wealth of victory, wealth of knowledge and ,lastly, the most famous of them all, material wealth.
This dance drama, it’s a conversation between the daughter and her mother about Ashtalakshmi. When the sassy daughter doesn’t understand the concept - the mother gives her daughter illustrations to make her understand the meaning and energies associated with the Ashtalakshmi. For all the eight forms of Lakshmi, the mom gives real-life examples of Indian women who contributed immensely to the aforesaid wealth.
